Hiring Harmony
Harmony is operated on a donations basis to help pay for paper and ink. Children and adults alike can step up and make their very own drawing, on ‘Harmony’ uncoated stock papers in a choice of colours, golds, silvers and whites. Each person can take away their very own drawing as a keepsake.
Harmony is self sufficient. With her own pitched roof, she is resistant to a shower but not a deluge. Her storage cabinet contains all she needs to get set up get to work. 4’ 10” of access is required for her to pass through any entrances or gates safely. A double door width is ample.
Harmony can be hired for £250 per day and comes with it’s very own Victorian Gentleman, Ryan Patrick Morley of Bird&Bee. He will guide the operator through the process explaining any options, answering any questions that come up and generally being charming!
Bird&Bee has Public Liability Insurance up to £5 million, full CRB check and a Risk Assessment can be drawn up on request. If you have any questions just call. (07855 755595)
Bird&Bee considers Harmony to be an ongoing project. This being Phase One, the goal for Harmony is to raise enough money through donations and hire, to refine the drawing machine as follows:
- To make precision, hand machined brass components on the pivots and plates and table top to enhance performance and minimise ‘decay’ (or friction).
- To purchase and renovate a second hand ‘Rice’ horse trailer box that will be a mobile home for ‘Harmony’ and double as a gallery and historical museum to the armonograph and the Mathematics of Music.
- To add an adjustable monochord (piano string) to Harmony to aid in the explanation of Overtones and Intervals.
- To add music to the device with two valve speakers placed under the canopy.
- To add a lateral option to the Rotary Pendulum.
- To incorporate three other arcane devices on to Harmony:
i. A Lissajous Viewer to project ‘live’ Sine waves.
ii. A Kaleidophone (vibrating Rod)
iii. A ‘Chladni’ pattern viewer-Vibrating Plate.
